Obsessed with Chevron

I really am obsessed with chevron.  Below are some images I have captured over the past few months. I didn't realize it is everywhere!! The left is the floor at the Beirgarden in New York City. The chevron on the right was the shingles on a barn in Pennsylvania. Love, Love, Love chevron!!

Change is Good!

We really lack a ton of space in our living room and right now have a wood coffee table that is pretty huge.  We move it to vacuum the rug and the last time we did, I think it hit us! We need more room!  We really would like to get an ottoman with storage to replace the coffee table.  I would love something light in color and soft, maybe the gray and white ottoman above...I also know my husband likes masculine things, and with the new gray chevron pillows combined with the green ones, he is pattern-ed out!  The ottoman in the middle above with the gold grommets is a matching piece to our sectional. I think that might have to be the one :)

Before and After - Living Room

I wanted to share a very special Before and After post.  The pictures on the left below were taken in September of 2012.  The pictures on the right were taken in Spring 2012.  We made a lot of changes. The biggest change that had the most pay-off was removing the old carpet.  We had gorgeous hard wood floors underneath!  I am going to attempt to give a run-down of the cost to re-do this room. Here goes:

Behr Paint: $60 (2 gallons)
Target Curtains: $100
Ross Curtain Rod: $30
Home Depot Rug: $300
American Furniture Warehouse Couch: $800
Etsy Green Pillow Covers: $76
Lowe's Floor Lamp: $64

Everything else we had already or was a gift! We are extremely happy and comfortable with the new space. What do you think?

Fall Shopping for Basics

So this may not seem like a lot, or even really very "Fall-ish," but American Eagle boyfriend jeans are my favorite jeans in the entire universe. When I saw that they had crops in the same style, I had to have them. Not to mention, they were each on sale for $29.99, but I found a coupon code online for an extra 15% off!! The tanks in the middle are from Target and are on sale this week for $5.  I got one in pink, one in white, and a patterned clearance tank for $2.40.  So my new fall clothes added up to $75 including shipping!  YAY! What is your Fall basic must-have?

Pillow Party

I recently ordered two gray chevron pillow covers (see previous blog post) from The Lacey Placey on Etsy.  I had not gotten them in the mail yet so e-mailed Lacey to check on my order.  She apologized profusely and said there must have been some sort of mix up. Then she said I could choose a FREE pillow cover that she would send with my others.  I got giddy and started shopping! I decided we could use a new pillow for the rocking chair in the guest room.  It was between the three above....and the one below, which I chose!! I just can't seem to get enough chevron!!
How do you think it will look in our guest room?? [We will move the current pillow on the rocking chair to the bed]

A special shout out to Lacey, from The Lacey Placey (shop).  She is wonderful!!!!

Scentsy/Thirty-One

I am in love with my new Scentsy warmer.  It matches perfectly with our guest room decor and of course holds an incredible smelling wax!  My sister and I hosted a Scentsy (website) and Thirty-One (website) party.  It was a night full of great friends, shopping, food and wine!

Apples and Peaches

These came from our very own apple and peach trees!  Fresh fruit right in your backyard is an incredible thing.

Making Peach Muffins

  • Ingredients:
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 2 cups peeled, pitted, and chopped peaches
  • Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Lightly grease 16 muffin cups.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt. In a separate bowl, mix the oil, eggs, and sugar. Stir the oil mixture into the flour mixture just until moist. Fold in the peaches. Spoon into the prepared muffin cups.
  3. Bake 25 minutes in the preheated oven, until a toothpick inserted in the center of a muffin comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes before turning out onto wire racks to cool completely.

Re-doing my Nieces Room

My niece is 3 and loves horses more and more every day.  My sister decided she would re-decorate her bedroom to better fit her personality, and also celebrate a transition out of a toddler bed into a "big girl bed." Above is an olioboard with some of the things my sister has purchased already.  We painted last night and it looks beautiful!

Buying Spree

I feel like I got a little out of control these past few weeks!! I purchased two pillow covers for our living room couch, a lace cardigan, a pair of wedges, and a new purse!  Here is a sample of some of my new goodies :)
Pillow Covers from here! (on sale for $9.50 each)

Striped Wedges from Marshall's ($19.99)

Purse from here! ($39.99)
It's nice to spoil yourself sometimes! I am most excited about the chevron pillow covers! YAY!
